What's New is 2010?

It's been too long since I last posted. I kinda cheated for a few months with the video blogs and then after Christmas just flat out stopped. But life is good and God is great! I'd been taking the time to do a lot of devotional updates at the end of 09 and plan to continue in that soon, but here's a little life update.
My little girl turned 6 months old today! Wow...I can hardly believe it. I remember when Silas was 6 months old. It seemed like it took so long for him to get there. We were living with my parents for the 5 months in transition between VA and NC and 5 of his first 6 months were there. That seems like a totally distinct life phase for me.... In fact, I just filled out a background check form for a camp I work with each summer and had to list my parents house as one of my most recent preeminent residences... weird. But the first 6 months of Savannah's life....ZOOOOOM. Gone. Is it sad? I'm not sure? I guess it could be. It's not like I haven't been here with her every day...hmmm? The thoughts we ponder.
Silas is my little man. He's Three and a Half going on 14. He's more articulate than many High School students I teach and has the great ambition of "being a little boy forever". He's my little Peter Pan. We're keeping a book of quotes from him that I plan to somehow make web-ready. He's a million laughs.
Lindsey has made the choice to stay at home with our kids and not return to work for now. I very brave decision I might add. She's an RN and likes doing that stuff but LOVES being a mommy. And, I might add, she's darn good at it. I love that woman!
Otherwise, I'm staying busy (if that's not enough).
Sunday Mornings We've started a new Bible study "class" at Christ's Church. I'm teaching with Jeremy Jones on the Life of Christ. It's been a great little fellowship time as a handful of of young adults gather to talk and learn. It's been forever since I've taught adults...in fact, I've never really had a good chance to do that regularly. It's refreshing
Sunday Nights We've got a great "new" Middle School Program at the church called "six78". Joe Cartwright has been on staff sine May '09 as our teen ministry intern and is now running that program. He's doing great all around.
Monday Nights we have a 11-12 grade small group at our house. I love the guys and girls. We're studying Francis Chan's "Crazy Love" book. It's a great look at God's love for us and our response to that love. It's really challenged me to rethink my commitment to God's love and where to place him in my world...(or rather, where to place myself in HIS world)
Tuesday Nights are the big deal for me. It's our High School event (theWIRE). I run that and speak each week. Most weeks I lead worship. HS worshipers are among some of the most sincere. I really love worshiping with them. We have a great environment in the the LOFT for students to let loose and I find myself right in there with them.
Wednessday nights are great....I have nothing :)
Thursday Nights I have been driving to Elizabeth City to teach my first college level course at MACU. I'm teaching, "intro to Family Ministry" to 11 students. They are a great class and have been a good guinea pig for me as an instructor. (I don't get to be a "professor" until I finish my MA next spring). I plan to do more posts about this soon to get my course available on my website as a resource for anyone who might care to use it)
My brother and his wife (I had to throw them some props) have been great to let us hang out or spend the night on these late Thursday nights. Y'all rock!
Fridays have been reserved for school work. If you recall, I'm still in Grad School. I'm taking 2 courses right now (I changed degree programs and as a result halted my Thesis...whew... but Now I've got an extra 1.5 years of school left). I had planned to graduate this coming May and now it'll be next spring. Lindsey has been a huge help this semester with one particular project! We're reading this GIANT book together (she reads...I listen). I won't even go into all of that...But I've been very thankful for her in this process.
Saturday....who knows...must we plan everything?!!! haha.
aaaaand....we're back to sunday.
I'm loving life and staying in the word, it's been my strength through all the hustle. I'm also spending more time with my family than I have been able to in the past because I'm making it my top priority. Hope you're doing well too....
Now I'm gonna go enjoy some more time with my wife and a nice cup of decaf before bed.
